Duties & Responsibilities
A mechanical engineer may work in a wide range of industries, most particularly in the manufacturing and production sector. He may handle the functionalities and developments of machines like air conditioners, machine tools, car engines, refrigerators, escalators, and other advanced devices. He may work on nearly any type of device which has mechanical and electronic aspects. Mechanical engineers participate in the development and design of devices.

A mechanical engineer has to develop blueprints, technical graphs, concept reports, and other documents of the machines to be manufactured. He may use computer-assisted design software to make drafts and fundamental concepts of the products to be worked on. He has to develop functional and practical theories of products and carry out the testing. He has to resolve any product issues with the production department and suppliers.

A mechanical engineer may even suggest some modifications to the products to get rid of system malfunctions. He may even be required to reinvent the current product line of the company. He has to make sure that the machine is set to the optimal standards of customer satisfaction. A common task that he has to do in any project is supervision of technicians and production workers.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.

Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.

Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.

Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.

Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.

Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.

Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.

Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.

Perform personnel functions, such as supervision of production workers, technicians, technologists and other engineers, and design of evaluation programs.

Solicit new business and provide technical customer service.

Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition.

Study industrial processes to determine where and how application of equipment can be made.

Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.

Apply engineering principles and practices to emerging fields, such as robotics, waste management, and biomedical engineering.

Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products.

Responsible for the electromechanical design and documentation of CTLM systems.
– Contribute to product planning in areas of expertise.
– Ensure all design models, drawings and bills of material are completed per requirements.
– Write and perform verification and validation testing of new designs.
– Support manufacturing and service during the lifespan of the product.
– Communicate with & support management in a timely manner.
– Ensure all IDSI quality policies and procedures are followed.
Job Specification

– Master or University degree relevant to the position.
– Overall 3-15 years’ experience.
– Technical and Designing skills.
– Dari, Pashto and English

Sensory demands include use of the computer, which may cause eyestrain and occasional headaches. The office may be noisy and busy making it difficult for the Employee to concentrate.

Significant stress is caused by the need to discontinue services to residents when necessary. The Employee will have to manage a number of requests and situations at one time. Stress may be caused by the need to complete tasks within tight deadlines.
